Join us as a Strategy & Innovation Manager at Mutual of Omaha, where you'll shape our future by driving strategic vision, fostering innovation, and leading change. You’ll collaborate with business leaders to support innovation agendas and evaluate strategic alternatives for new features, products, emerging technologies, and new business opportunities. This opportunity is open to candidates at both the Manager and Sr. Manager level, depending on experience and qualifications.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Estimated Salary (Levels have variable responsibilities and qualifications):
    • Strategy & Innovation Manager: $110,000 - $146,000 plus annual bonus opportunity.
    • Strategy & Innovation Sr. Manager: $123,000 - $166,000 plus annual bonus opportunity.
  • Benefits and Perks, 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
  • Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year.
  • Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2024, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion.
  • Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2024, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2024 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead Innovation Strategy: Identify opportunity zones, evaluate emerging technologies, and explore new business avenues. Collaborate with stakeholders to explore new business opportunities and navigate the Insurtech ecosystem effectively.
  • Develop & Manage Innovation Pipeline & Programs: Develop and prioritize an innovation portfolio from discovery through evaluation and experimentation, using data-driven and evidence-based approaches.
  • Drive a Culture of Innovation:  Build and maintain a culture of innovation and learning within the organization, by engaging and empowering employees, providing training and coaching, and celebrating and rewarding innovation successes.
  • Utilize Data for Decision Making: Gather critical insights to inform decision-making, identify growth opportunities, and track key performance indicators.
  • Research & Analyze Trends: Research and analyze emerging trends, technologies, and opportunities in the insurance and insurtech industry and assess their potential impact and relevance for the company and its customers.
  • Build Innovation Capabilities: Translate strategic plans, lead cross-functional teams, and encourage experimentation and learning within the organization, resulting in equipping the cross-functional organization with enhanced innovation skillset and toolsets.
  • Collaborate Within the Innovation Ecosystem:  Build and nurture external relationships to contribute to enterprise and business area innovation goals and growth objectives.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of experience in innovation or operations consulting.
  • Familiarity with innovation programming and serving in a support services capacity to accomplish shared business objectives.
  • Proven track record in identifying and driving innovation initiatives, with a deep understanding of emerging technologies and market trends, to spearhead strategic growth opportunities.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to translate emerging trends into growth opportunities for the business. 
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Proficiency in negotiation and influencing skills, along with ability to deliver compelling and impactful presentations.
  • Analytical mindset with adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Ability to commute to our home office in Omaha, NE on an as-needed basis.

PREFERRED:

  • Master's degree with experience in Fortune 500 companies or global management consulting firms.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry or financial services.
